Rapid Recovery Preparation Before Your Breast Augmentation
Remember the public service announcements on NBC with the shooting star and the slogan, “The More You Know?” Well, when it comes to breast surgery, this slogan is actually very true.
First, I try very hard to educate you before you even have surgery. I will try my darnedest to make you understand every aspect of your surgery. From the surgical details and how to deal with expectations about pain and recovery to what items to stock in your house and how to contact me on my personal cell phone with any questions or concerns.
I will ask you to pay attention and go over any and all of the information we give to you before your breast augmentation. Here’s the deal. If you are mentally and physically prepared to have your breast augmentation, you will be able to have a much quicker recovery after your operation.
Caroline, our office manager, has decades of experience with patients, and can answer many common questions about breast augmentation, as well.
Rapid Recovery Preparation During Your Breast Augmentation
The real nuts and bolts of a Rapid Recovery Breast Augmentation occur in the operating room, during your surgery. After 14 years of breast augmentation procedures, I’ve learned a lot. Rest assured that my techniques are the same as I would insist upon for my own family members.
During your breast augmentation, I am very gentle with your tissues and use a special dissection technique to ensure that your surgery is precise, created without tearing muscle, and no use of blunt force is utilized to create the space for your breast implants. I’m sure you’ve seen surgeries on TV and have thought, “Man, that looks really painful. Why does the doctor have to be so forceful?” Simply put, he doesn’t.
Like pretty much everything else in surgery, the more tissue trauma, surgery time, and wider area of surgery, the more pain you will feel AFTER your operation. I have trained with some great mentors, and I’ve used their special techniques for the past 14 years to give your body the least amount of trauma possible. To recover twice as fast as traditional breast surgery, you need to work with a plastic surgeon like me who is more precise and finicky about HOW the surgery is done to ensure great results and less pain after your procedure.
During your procedure, I also use special numbing medicine to ensure your chest area feels less pain even before you wake up from anesthesia. When my patient is on the table, I see them as a person, not as a procedure.
During your surgery, I place a “pain pump” into your new breast pockets to stream very low dose, consistent pain medicine. This will allow your chest to have even less perceived pain over the next few days.
Rapid Recovery After Your Breast Augmentation
After surgery, I encourage my patients to move their arms and to move around in general. Not moving around actually induces more pain and swelling after breast augmentation, and as long as you’re moving your muscles without significant weight or motion, you’ll feel better.
Because you have less surgical trauma, numbing medicine in the area of surgery, and the ability to move your arms, you should be able to take significantly less pain oral medicine after surgery. Many of my patients only need narcotic pain medications for the first night after surgery, and a sizable number of my patients never take ANY narcotic pain pills.
You should be able to return to your job within 2-5 days after your procedure, depending on your job and your pain threshold levels. You should be able to get back to taking care of kids and light exercise within one week. Heavy exercise, such as really sweating, or swimming, may take 3-4 weeks. Every patient is different, and it depends on how you heal and exactly what procedure you need.
Conclusion
Rapid Recovery Breast Augmentation is NOT quicker breast augmentation surgery or a lesser result. Rather, it’s LESS PAIN after your operation, due to my special blend of surgical techniques and pain control technologies after your procedure.
In my opinion, it’s not an option. A no brainer. You deserve less pain after your breast augmentation, with a quicker return to your normal life and your loved ones.
