The Art and Science of Lip Filler: Achieving Natural Beauty

Lip Filler is one of the more common and subtle things I do as a plastic surgeon, and it’s more complicated than most people think. 👄It’s easy to overfill the lines and borders, but it’s hard to fill the vermilion border without looking artificial. It’s easy to create a pout, but hard to create a pout that looks natural and proportional to my patient’s face. It’s easy to create an anatomic ratio of a taller height to the lower lip compared to the upper lip, but it’s hard to create a ratio that is aesthetically pleasing to the patient’s profile. It’s easy to read an anatomy textbook on lip tubercles, but hard to actually create them in lips that are flat. It’s easy to notice that someone’s philtral columns are flatter and lengthening, but harder to subtly increase the height closer to the lips and not as much closer to the nostrils. The anatomy is always the same, but each patient is different.before and after lip fillerbefore and after lip filler         Special thanks to my beautiful patient, who loves her results and is willing to share them on social media! ❤️ Have comments or questions?
